# Best mouse jiggler apps for Mac in 2026: Napless for keep-awake

Published October 3, 2026 · Bundl.run

Napless is our pick if you need your Mac to stay awake; Pro also keeps Slack and Teams active. Try it free for 7 days. Compare dedicated pointer jigglers too.

[Napless](https://napless.io/) is our top recommendation for most readers searching for a mouse jiggler to keep their Mac awake. It prevents sleep without moving the pointer by default, and Pro has an optional setting to keep Slack and Teams from showing you away. New installs get a 7-day free trial of everything, Pro included, without an account or card; keep-awake needs Pro afterwards. [Try Napless free for 7 days](https://napless.io/). A mouse jiggler creates pointer or click events, while a keep-awake app prevents idle sleep. Choose [Jiggler](https://www.sticksoftware.com/software/Jiggler.html) for free pointer movement with readable source code, or [Mouse Jiggler - Mouse Mover](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/mouse-jiggler-mouse-mover/id6740313656?mt=12) for an App Store option. [KeepingYouAwake](https://keepingyouawake.app/) is the free-forever keep-awake toggle that can let the display sleep.

> **Disclosure:** Napless is made by the team behind Bundl, and it is our top pick. We say below where another app fits better.

## Key points

- Napless is our #1 pick for keeping the Mac awake. Pro's optional chat setting moves the pointer 1 pixel after 60 seconds idle to keep Slack and Teams from showing you away. [Try Napless free for 7 days](https://napless.io/).
- Mouse jigglers generate input; keep-awake tools use sleep assertions.
- Jiggler and Mouse Jiggler - Mouse Mover suit pointer events. Napless, KeepingYouAwake and `caffeinate` suit idle-sleep prevention.
- Slack sets Away after ten minutes of desktop inactivity. Teams sets Away after a few inactive minutes or when the computer locks. Preventing sleep alone does not guarantee Available status.
- Software that controls the Mac needs permission. Apple silicon Mac laptops ask before new USB accessories connect under the default setting.
- Jiggler's Zen mode skips pointer movement and may miss apps that watch cursor position.

## Comparison table

Dollar prices are USD; App Store prices refer to the U.S. store. Optional movement means the app can also run without moving the pointer.

## 1. Napless: our pick for keep-awake, with optional chat nudges

**Best for:** most readers who need keep-awake rather than a dedicated pointer jiggler.

[Napless](/apps/napless) 1.5.0, released 8 October 2026, is a menu-bar app with a 7-day free trial of everything, including Pro. New website installs start the trial on first launch without an account or card. Its manual sessions run for a duration, until a time, until you stop it, or from a preset. After 7 days, keeping the Mac awake requires Pro. [Allow display to sleep](https://napless.io/help/) and the heat stop are on by default. It includes a global shortcut, a `napless doctor` health check and Control Center control on macOS 26 or later. The [download](https://napless.io/) is Developer ID signed and notarized, for Intel and Apple silicon. If the Mac sleeps during a hold, the menu and Check Health say why, without moving the pointer.

[Napless Pro](https://napless.io/pro/) adds automatic holds for downloads, calls, exports, backups, named commands, local servers and AI agent runs. Hooks cover Claude Code, Codex, Grok, Cursor and Gemini CLI. Keep Awake While It Runs covers 12 more, 17 total. There is also a Time Machine trigger. After the 7-day trial, Pro costs $8 for the first 50 licenses, then $24, once: a lifetime license for up to 3 Macs, with no subscription. Macs that installed Napless before 1.5.0 keep the free timers, Keep Awake Until, presets and sleep-cause note they already had; Pro features still need Pro.

Pro's [Keep chat apps active](https://napless.io/guides/stop-slack-teams-away/) option is off by default. During a keep-awake session, after at least 60 seconds idle, it moves the pointer 1 pixel and back once a minute. It requires Accessibility permission and skips locked screens, sleeping displays and a closed lid. The setting explains the Teams and Slack away timers and keeps a private 7-day log of pointer nudges you can export. Check workplace policy before enabling it. Closed-lid keep-awake is not shipped in 1.5.0; Amphetamine is the better choice for that feature, and Jiggler is better for dedicated pointer events. See [the keep-awake comparison](/blog/best-keep-awake-apps-mac-2026).

**Pros:**

- Manual sessions with display sleep allowed by default, included in the trial and with Pro.
- Notarized download; Pro adds automatic holds.

**Cons:**

- Closed-lid keep-awake has not shipped in 1.5.0.
- New users need Pro after the trial for keep-awake; automatic holds, agent hooks and chat movement are Pro features.
- Direct download only; no Homebrew cask or Mac App Store listing.

**Price, version, macOS:** [7-day free trial, then $8 (first 50 licenses) or $24, once; lifetime, up to 3 Macs, no subscription](https://napless.io/pro/) · [1.5.0, 8 October 2026](https://napless.io/whats-new/) · [macOS 13 or later](https://napless.io/).

Install: [Try Napless free for 7 days](https://napless.io/).

## 2. Jiggler: free pointer events with source code

**Best for:** Pointer movement rather than just preventing idle sleep.

[Jiggler](https://www.sticksoftware.com/software/Jiggler.html) is Stick Software's freeware menu-bar app, with [GPL-3.0 source](https://github.com/bhaller/Jiggler). Standard jiggle moves the pointer; it can wait for idle time or follow a chosen app. Version 1.10 adds macOS 26 Tahoe compatibility for Zen jiggle. [Zen mode](https://github.com/bhaller/Jiggler/commit/e9ef9942) skips movement and uses a display-sleep assertion, so it can miss apps that watch cursor position.

The [project](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/bhaller/Jiggler/master/Jiggler.xcodeproj/project.pbxproj) targets macOS 10.15; that build target is not a developer support guarantee. The [archive](https://www.sticksoftware.com/archive.html) separately offers 1.9 for macOS 11-12 and 1.8 for 10.13-10.15. Napless is a better fit when the display should sleep normally; Amphetamine offers optional movement inside a keep-awake session.

**Pros:**

- Freeware with source code and a Homebrew cask.
- Idle-time and chosen-app conditions.

**Cons:**

- Zen mode cannot satisfy every app that expects pointer movement.
- The [README](https://github.com/bhaller/Jiggler/blob/master/README.md) says it is not under active development.

**Price, version, macOS:** [Free; 1.10](https://www.sticksoftware.com/software/Jiggler.html) · [version-bump commit, 18 November 2025](https://github.com/bhaller/Jiggler/commit/57f4a1f5) · [macOS 10.15 build target](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/bhaller/Jiggler/master/Jiggler.xcodeproj/project.pbxproj).

```sh
brew install --cask jiggler
```

Or [download Jiggler](https://www.sticksoftware.com/software/Jiggler.html) directly.

## 3. Mouse Jiggler - Mouse Mover: App Store movement and scheduling

**Best for:** An App Store jiggler with adjustable movement and schedules.

[Mouse Jiggler - Mouse Mover](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/mouse-jiggler-mouse-mover/id6740313656?mt=12), sold by Bohdan Bilous, provides cursor movement and optional clicks. Version 3.4 adds Small, Medium and Full movement ranges; Natural Mode shifts scheduled start and deactivate times by a random 1-5 minutes.

The [developer site](https://mousejigglermac.com/) describes a separate Prevent Sleep While Active switch. Access to control the Mac is required. The App Store's version history identifies Silent Mode and Deactivate At as Pro features; check the app for the current feature split.

**Pros:**

- Free download with movement range and scheduling controls.
- Mac App Store distribution.

**Cons:**

- Pro Full Access costs $9.99 in the U.S. store.
- Movement and optional clicks require control permission.

**Price, version, macOS:** [Free; Pro Full Access $9.99 · 3.4, 29 September 2026 · macOS 12 or later](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/mouse-jiggler-mouse-mover/id6740313656?mt=12).

Install: [Mac App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/mouse-jiggler-mouse-mover/id6740313656?mt=12).

## 4. AlwaysJiggle: free Apple silicon modes

**Best for:** Multiple jiggle modes on Apple silicon, if you accept an unnotarized download.

[AlwaysJiggle](https://alwaysjiggle.cesar.dev.br/) is César Nascimento's free menu-bar app. Its [README](https://github.com/ncesar/alwaysjiggle/blob/main/README.md) states an MIT license. Standard mode nudges the cursor 2 pixels and back; Zen mode claims no visible movement while resetting idle time; Humanized mode uses irregular timing. All three require Accessibility permission.

The developer promises green Slack or Teams status. Neither vendor's presence documentation endorses that promise. The developer also says the app is not notarized and Gatekeeper blocks it; public source code alone does not establish download safety.

**Pros:**

- Free, with Standard, Zen and Humanized modes.
- Can pause on battery and at the lock screen, per its README.

**Cons:**

- The v1.1.7 disk image supports Apple silicon only.
- Unnotarized; chat availability is not guaranteed.

**Price, version, macOS:** [Free; macOS 13 or later, Apple silicon](https://alwaysjiggle.cesar.dev.br/) · [v1.1.7, 2 October 2026](https://github.com/ncesar/alwaysjiggle/releases/tag/v1.1.7).

Install: [v1.1.7 disk image](https://github.com/ncesar/alwaysjiggle/releases/tag/v1.1.7).

## 5. Green Dotter: wiggle or click inside a box

**Best for:** Switching between pointer movement and clicks in a selected area.

[Green Dotter](https://green-dotter.com/) is a free Mac and Windows app with no account required. Wiggle mode moves without clicking; click mode clicks inside a box at random intervals. Both pause when you move the mouse or press a key, and can stop on a timer. Mac clicks use Accessibility permission.

Draw the click box over a harmless area: an accidental click can submit a form or press a button. The developer asks users to check workplace policy before using an auto clicker or presence tool on a work device.

**Pros:**

- Free direct download; separate wiggle and click modes.
- Pauses for your input.

**Cons:**

- Click mode can activate controls in the chosen area.
- The developer does not provide a release date for v2.7.0 on the homepage.

**Price, version, macOS:** [Free · v2.7.0, release date unspecified · macOS 11 or later, Intel and Apple silicon](https://green-dotter.com/).

Install: [Green Dotter for Mac](https://green-dotter.com/).

## Hardware USB jigglers

USB jigglers send movement as an accessory rather than as a Mac app. On an Apple silicon Mac laptop, [Apple's default accessory setting](https://support.apple.com/en-us/102282) asks you to approve a new USB or Thunderbolt accessory before it connects. Administrators can control that setting on supervised laptops. Accessory approval is separate from a software app's control permissions; neither establishes that a jiggler is undetectable or permitted at work.

## 6. Amphetamine: optional movement and closed-display sessions

**Best for:** A free keep-awake app with optional mouse movement or closed-display support.

[Amphetamine](/apps/amphetamine), by William Gustafson, has no ads, in-app purchases or Pro version. Its [App Store listing](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/amphetamine/id937984704?mt=12) describes per-session control of display sleep, the screen saver, screen locking and automated cursor movement. You can leave the pointer still while the Mac stays awake.

Closed-display mode gives Amphetamine an advantage over Napless. Version 5.3.2's notes identify Power Protect as a separate download for Apple silicon laptops, addressing power connection changes during closed-display sessions. Optional cursor movement does not guarantee chat availability.

**Pros:**

- Free keep-awake sessions with optional cursor movement.
- Documented closed-display support.

**Cons:**

- The latest listed version dates from 2023.
- Apple silicon power changes may need separate Power Protect installation.

**Price, version, macOS:** [Free · 5.3.2, 10 November 2023 · macOS 10.13 or later](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/amphetamine/id937984704?mt=12). The description still says 10.11; use the store's compatibility requirement.

Install: [Mac App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/amphetamine/id937984704?mt=12). No Homebrew cask.

## 7. KeepingYouAwake: a simple caffeinate switch

**Best for:** A free menu-bar toggle without pointer movement.

[KeepingYouAwake](https://keepingyouawake.app/), by Marcel Dierkes, is an [MIT-licensed wrapper](https://github.com/newmarcel/KeepingYouAwake/blob/main/README.md) around Apple's `caffeinate`. Its display-sleep preference selects `-i` for idle-system-sleep prevention or `-di` to prevent display sleep too. The [1.6.8 release](https://github.com/newmarcel/KeepingYouAwake/releases/tag/1.6.8) adds a macOS 26 icon and is the last release supporting Big Sur and older systems.

**Pros:**

- Free and open source; Homebrew installation.
- Can let the display sleep while the Mac stays awake.

**Cons:**

- No pointer events for apps that require input.
- Does not prevent sleep on a laptop with its lid closed.

**Price, version, macOS:** [Free, MIT license](https://github.com/newmarcel/KeepingYouAwake/blob/main/README.md) · [1.6.8, 12 September 2025](https://github.com/newmarcel/KeepingYouAwake/releases/tag/1.6.8) · [macOS 10.13 or later](https://keepingyouawake.app/).

```sh
brew install --cask keepingyouawake
```

## 8. caffeinate: a built-in timed hold

**Best for:** Occasional keep-awake sessions from Terminal, with nothing to install.

Apple's [caffeinate manual](https://github.com/apple-oss-distributions/PowerManagement/blob/main/caffeinate/caffeinate.8) describes sleep assertions, not pointer movement. No flags prevents idle sleep; `-i` prevents idle system sleep; `-d` prevents display sleep. For one hour with display sleep allowed:

```sh
caffeinate -i -t 3600
```

Use `-di` to keep the display lit too. `-u` declares user activity and can wake the display, but defaults to five seconds without `-t`; it does not generate mouse clicks. See [the keep-awake guide](/blog/best-keep-awake-apps-mac-2026) for more flags.

**Pros:**

- Included with macOS; no download or pointer-control permission.
- Timed holds, or holds for a command's execution.

**Cons:**

- Terminal interface rather than a menu-bar control.
- No pointer events or guaranteed chat availability.

**Price, version, macOS:** Included with macOS · [manual dated 9 November 2012](https://github.com/apple-oss-distributions/PowerManagement/blob/main/caffeinate/caffeinate.8), not an app release date · version follows the installed macOS.

Install: open Terminal.

## Permissions, Slack, and Teams

[Apple's Accessibility guide](https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/allow-accessibility-apps-to-access-your-mac-mh43185/mac) says to grant Mac-control access only to apps you know and trust. Follow your installed macOS permission prompt. Apple's [management payload](https://support.apple.com/guide/deployment/privacy-preferences-policy-control-payload-dep38df53c2a/web) lets administrators allow or deny Accessibility and Post Event, the service for sending CoreGraphics events. A managed Mac can block a jiggler's required permission.

[Slack](https://slack.com/help/articles/201864558-Set-your-Slack-status-and-availability) sets Away after ten minutes of desktop inactivity. [Teams](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/presence-admins) sets Away after a few inactive minutes or when the computer locks, and Offline when it sleeps. Preventing sleep addresses that sleep path, not every presence rule. Neither page guarantees synthetic input will keep you Available.

Check IT and attendance policies before installing a jiggler or enabling Napless's chat switch. Green Dotter and Napless both advise that policy check. Permission to control the Mac does not imply employer approval, and no app here carries a promise of defeating monitoring. Use Slack and Teams' own status controls to communicate availability.

## How we picked

- Napless leads for readers whose main task is keeping a Mac awake. Its manual sessions and Pro automatic holds cover that task, and the optional Pro chat nudge covers Slack and Teams activity. Dedicated jigglers fit readers who want pointer movement by design; free-forever tools fit readers who do not want to pay after a trial.
- Distinguish developer features from guarantees about chat availability.
- Account for permission requirements, notarization and distribution.

## FAQ

### Is a mouse jiggler undetectable?

Do not assume so. Apple documents control permissions for software and accessory approval for USB devices on Apple silicon laptops. Administrators can manage relevant permissions. These controls do not prove what any specific monitoring product detects; neither software nor hardware distribution establishes invisibility. Check your organization's policy instead of relying on a seller's "undetectable" promise.

### Can I use a jiggler without Accessibility permission?

A keep-awake command such as `caffeinate -i` needs no pointer-control permission because it does not move the mouse. That does not make it a substitute for real input events. AlwaysJiggle requires Accessibility in all three modes, and Napless requires it for the optional Pro chat nudge. That nudge stays off until you enable it. Pro keeps a private 7-day log of those nudges, and you can export the log. On managed Macs, ask IT about approved tools.

### Can the screen sleep while the Mac stays awake?

Yes. KeepingYouAwake provides a free display-sleep preference. Napless allows display sleep by default, and each preset can set its own display choice during the trial or with Pro. Napless needs Pro to keep the Mac awake after the 7-day trial, and Amphetamine lets you allow display sleep during a session. In Terminal, `caffeinate -i -t 3600` prevents idle system sleep for one hour without adding a display-sleep assertion. Pointer movement can interfere with ordinary idle behavior, so use a sleep assertion when input is unnecessary.

### Which option works with a closed MacBook lid?

Amphetamine documents closed-display keep-awake; its 5.3.2 notes identify the separate Power Protect download for Apple silicon power connection changes. Napless 1.5.0 has not shipped closed-lid keep-awake. KeepingYouAwake explicitly excludes closed-lid laptop use. Do not infer closed-lid support merely because an app prevents idle sleep: lid closure is a different condition.
