Moving to Photoshop involves adapting to the subscription model and the Creative Cloud ecosystem. You will gain access to Smart Objects and a vast library of neural filters. Shortcuts are similar but not identical. You will need to get used to 'saving' less often as Cloud Docs auto-save. The biggest shift is learning to rely on AI for tasks you used to do manually. Note: The legacy Affinity Photo app has been discontinued; current users should migrate to the free unified Affinity app or Photoshop.

The new unified Affinity app (free) can open PSD files and Smart Objects, making the switch relatively smooth. However, you cannot export back to PSD with editable text/effects perfectly every time. Shortcuts can be customized to match Photoshop's. You will lose Generative Fill, so be prepared to relearn manual retouching skills like Frequency Separation (which Affinity handles natively and easily).
